Me personally no, but I have an aggressive back up plan after getting burned too many times.

Important documents, pictures and files are backed up to the cloud, through G-mail and soon, a unconnected back up 2 terabyte USB drive using a Linux live/ boot disk.

This may seem like a lot of work, but go through the Trojan/ virus nightmare above or watch as a kid knocks your nice 500 gb. usb drive off your desk accidentally, giving you the ominous beeps of doom.

If you have had a hard drive either internal or external suddenly become jarred, then you have Googled as I did and know this is the bar that sways across and usually reads your data on the platters is now misaligned and your hd is toast.

We lost a ton of hard to find files and archived pics/ documents so I personally don't want to go down that road again...

Great cloud tools we regularly use as a file safety, system crash back-up solution:

Mega! - 50 GB's of secure, super encrypted file storage.

DropBox - Tons of space, automatic pic storage from phones.

Box - Tons of file storage space, ease of use.

And, if you go the USB drive, Linux live cd route and clone or direct copy your entire installed Windows environment, be it laptop or desktop, a simple copy and paste is a huge time saver!
